This is why I always tell people to read brave new world when they start talking about 1984. 1984 won’t happen, but we are all living in the beginning of the brave new world..

I’ve read both books and tbh honest Brave new world seems much more conceivable, and realistic.
this is interesting because i think it’s very dependent on the country you live in. Because Americans don’t perceive control or oppression the way other countries do (see: LAND OF THE FREEEEE!!) but instead are targeted through media consumption/production, it would make sense for them to identify with Brave New World so easily.
On the other hand, a lot of the people I know tend to find 1984 terrifying because it’s already happening to them and they see it marketed as ‘dystopian fiction.’
